Development of an urban test site for automated and connected driving in Tampere, Finland

    Abstract

    For development and evaluation of automated and connected driving functionalities, special test site setups are required. Finland's regulation allows already today to test automated driving. For supporting industry and authorities to test and verify automated and connected driving functions, the UrbanAutoTest project. The main objective of the project is to set up a testbed, located in the Finnish city Tampere, for the evaluation of autonomous driving systems The project has generated a test environment, consisting of closed and public route test track with test equipment, portfolio of verification and validation, technology research and consultancy services and growing portfolio of test vehicles and tools.
