Abstract

The objective of the project was to investigate and develop a two-stage crusher li-ne, which is suitable for production of energy fraction from logging residues. The crusher line consists of pre- and additional crushers. Logging residues are crus-hed into grain-size of 100-150 mm in the pre-crusher. Energy fraction is formed in the additional crusher. Compared with the traditional single-stage crus-hing and chipping the advantage of the two-stage crushing is the higher capacity and lower power demand, as well as the higher tolerance of impurities. The pre-crus-her and the additional crusher of the crushing line have been acquired in the pro-ject. Test runs have been carried out with both dry and fresh spruce logging re-si-dues. The output of the two-stage crusher is high enough and the power de-mand low enough to reduce the crushing costs of the logging residue chips. The pro-ject has started in October 1999 and it has ended in February 2001.
