Abstract
Adaptive HMI is needed in future vehicles due to the increasing number of entertainment facilities, vehicle controls and communication devices that capture part of the driver's attention. The adaptation is intended to keep the driver demand at a reasonable level, even during critical situations. However, the adaptation requires information concerning the driver workload, and this study presents a method to capture the driver's momentary state.
