    Abstract

The share of the solar energy utilisation will increase drastically in the future which affect the operation of solid fuel power plants. Information on different plant combinations is needed to combine the traditional energy infrastructure with new processes. In the hybrid concepts solar field produces part of the plant's heat/steam load. To guarantee continuous electricity/heat production information on the performance of different concepts in various conditions is needed. This can be utilized e.g. in the design of control systems. A time dependent modelling platform has been developed to APROS to analyze the performance of different integrated plant layouts. The main process units and streams, the control loops and supporting calculations that essentially are required to operate the system will be included in APROS modelling. One integration method was tested with a CFB-power plant producing 430 MWe electricity and solar field. The dynamic simulations done to the CFB-boiler power plant and the whole process integrate showed that the developed platform works well. Based on results of simulation test responses, controls work well and process phenomena seem to be realistic. The platform offers tools and methods to analyze and further improve interactions between intermittent renewable power generation and traditional power plants but also methods, controls and optimization strategies for hybrid power plant concepts.
