Abstract
A new model is developed for the ice-induced vibration of offshore structures. The dynamic equations of equilibrium for the structure and the undamaged ice field are coupled by a nonlinear element describing the crushing and clearing processes at the ice-structure interface. Sample calculations show good agreement with the results of a model test and a series of full-scale measurements.
