    Abstract

In many applications numerical simulation of vibration and shock phenomenon need accurate mathematical models of flexible components. Especially mechanical shock and vibration isolators play significant role in the dynamic behaviour in many applications. However, the isolator dynamic properties are often nonlinear with heavy damping and therefore complicated to model. Therefore, typically simulation software does not include accurate enough models of vibration isolators. In this study dynamical behaviour of wire rope isolators are measured in different environments including underwater explosions (UNDEX), moderate vibration generated with shaker (higher frequencies) and with hydraulic test frame (static loads and lower frequencies). The purpose of the tests was to measure dynamic properties of wire rope isolator and to gain systematic measurement data of wire rope isolator for simulation model verification.
