Abstract
Materials selection for Gen IV supercritical water
reactor in-core components faces major challenges due to
severe operating condition. Beside high-temperature
mechanical properties, SCC and general corrosion
resistance of commercially available materials are also
major focuses in recent research. Recent reports suggest
that certain types of surface modifications are
beneficial to SCW corrosion resistance. In this study,
the effects of surface modifications are investigated,
and possible mechanisms for improved corrosion
performance are discussed
