Abstract
Although the use of safety analysis has increased and
become common, the quality of the analysis is sometimes
criticised. The quality management of safety analysis can
be based on the evaluation of the analysis process and
identification of its shortcomings. The high quality of
an analysis can be best assured, while possible weak
points are recognised and eliminated already when
planning the analysis. In this, the role of the analysis
leader is crucial.
The paper discusses quality management, and means for
improving the quality of safety analyses. The emphasis is
on the roles of the analysis leader and subscriber,
requirements for a analysis leader, and means for
assuring the quality. The meaning and importance of the
subscriber's role to safety analyses in industry are
discussed.
