Abstract
The emerging wireless e-commerce services can be implemented in pervasive computing environments with a great number of networked devices. A promising platform for pervasive computing are mobile ad hoc networks. The security level requirements for such a platform are high because of e-payment transactions. Therefore, it is important to be able to measure and monitor the actual security level of the e-business environment. Using suitable security metrics and, network nodes can estimate the level of security from both their own and the network’s point of view. The most secure applications and communication peers can be selected based on estimation results. An interdisciplinary security information framework can be built using security metrics and security level information for product quality, the traffic and mobility situation, general statistical knowledge and research results having an effect on the security level.
