Abstract
The criteria for the occurrence of wet snow accretion are discussed and it is pointed out that the beginning and duration of a wet snow incident can be determined using precipitation code, air temperature and humidity data. A simple operational model for estimating wet snow loads on overhead power lines is proposed. The model can be used in mapping the wet snow load risk by routinely measured meteorological data.
