Abstract
The phase ambiguity problem in detecting phase modulated signals
transmitted over a time-variant frequency-nonselective Rayleigh fading channel
is addressed. A unified way for signal detection in an unknown channel based
on the non-coherent estimator-correlator receiver is presented. We explain how
this receiver can be used in conjunction with linear modulations. We provide
a method for estimating the required number of pilot symbols and the need for
tracking.
