Abstract
This chapter elaborates on the importance for service industries to build future readiness to anticipate the societal impacts of AI technologies in the future. We employed an ethical foresight approach, consisting of horizon scanning and scenario building to systematically anticipate ethical issues and societal impacts of AI technologies. Four scenarios outlined the development and use of AI in the future, focusing on a set of factors related to the publicity of data and AI algorithms, and the relationship between privacy and publicity in the use of AI. The chapter contributes to the literature on AI and services by providing future-oriented scenarios. Such capacity building is especially relevant for governmental and regulatory services, healthcare and elderly care services, policy and sustainability decision-making bodies.
