    The evaluation stage provides a link between the generation of ideas and the development of new business, and is thus an essential part of the creation process. The focus in this chapter is on the strategic evaluation of new opportunities. It introduces some methods and tools that have proved useful in companies in the early phases of NBC, and further discusses the systematic integration of risk and uncertainty into the evaluation. It thus gives a wider perspective that goes beyond the M&A process.
