N2 - In the present study, experiments were carried out in a 40 cm wide and 3 m high 2D circulating fluidized bed. Two experiments were simulated by means of the Eulerian multiphase models of the Fluent CFD software. The vertical pressure and solids volume fraction profiles and the solids circulation rate obtained from the simulation were compared to the experimental results. In addition, lateral volume fraction profiles could be compared. The simulated CFB flow patterns and the profiles obtained from simulations were in general in a good agreement with the experimental results.
