    Abstract

Finland is well known as a high technology country and when it comes to ceramic technology the central or Northern part of the country has long traditions in both research and volume production. Under the global pressure the players in the Oulu and Kemi region have recently joined forces in analysing what technologies are needed and what can be offered. One short presentation of this industry cluster was given in November 2005 at the large gathering of the TEKES programme ELMO - Miniaturizing Electronics Technology Programme. Another joint effort will be an international workshop, High Performance Technologies, in Oulu June 16 in connection with the Microwave Materials and Their Applications Conference the same week, see www.ee.oulu.fi/research/miklab/ mma2006.
