Abstract
The BioRefine- New biomass Products Programme of Tekes,
Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, for
2007-2012 aims to generate new and unique expertise in
the processing of biomass and to apply it to the creation
of processes, products and services related to
biorefineries. A broader Finnish effort to develop new
biorefining competencies and technologies is coordinated
under the umbrella of the BioRefine programme. The
programme harnesses an extensive network of Finnish
research institutes, universities and enteprises.
Activities of the programme, the main results achieved so
far and examples of projects and demonstration activities
on biorefineries and production and use of
second-generation biofuels in Finland are presented in
the paper
