Research output: Book/ReportReport

Abstract

The report examines the benefits and strategic importance, as well as the future challenges of Finnish Participation in the EU Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development. The focus in on the experiences gained from the Fifth Framework Programme. The Finnish organisations participating in the Fifth Framework Programme are in general more satisfied with their project success than the participants in the previous one. The benefits of the research collaboration are considered to exceed the costs. However, better utilisation of the knowledge and expertise achieved in the EU projects, as well as further product development, are needed. At policy level, there is also a need to find synergies and establish dialogue between the EU and national programmes.
