Abstract

There can be foreseen both short-term and long-term benefits due to chances to adopt various plans and technical solutions in buildings during construction process or later in use. Adaptability has become an essential issue in building and construction sector mainly for two reasons: pace of business changes require rapid modifications in commercial and office buildings and demographic changes require more individually tailored residences. Improvement of adaptability responses these topical needs but it also helps to extend the service life of buildings. The methodology and approach of Open Building can be applied both in new and existing buildings in order to develop solutions in practice.
