Abstract

A filtering procedure for avoiding bias and unwanted correlations in the estimates of structural parameters due to uncertainties in the low-frequency background of diffraction patterns is suggested and successfully applied to a lead powder measurement. Some further development work on the Fourier method is reviewed.
