How to replace non-renewable packaging materials?

    Abstract

Could we replace non-renewable packaging materials, like expanded polystyrene or bubble wrap, with more sustainable and recyclable materials? Hopefully, because millions tons of plastic waste have en-tered already in oceans and we should find ways to decrease those numbers. Foam formed fibre products could offer a substitute for non-biodegradable expanded polystyrene based inner packages. By foam forming, light and soft fibrous cushioning element that protects the product from impacts could be made from wood fibres. Product shape is possible to make in the manufacturing phase.
