    Abstract

Driving in an intersection is a complex task. In Europe approximately 40 % of the injury and 30 % of the fatal accidents are related to the intersection driving. Therefore, European Union emerges a new project INTERSAFE-2 which is intended to cut or at least to mitigate consequences in 80 % of the intersection incidences. The objectives of the initiative are an elaboration and implementation of key technologies which include stereo vision, laser scanners and radars for performing vehicle side environment perception.
