    Abstract

When developing natural and intuitive applications for virtual spaces, an issue that seldom has been emphasised among design guidelines for interaction creation is freedom of movement. The Intuitive Movement Sensing method developed at VTT Information Technology explores people's movements as individuals and as a group when interacting with other persons and moving around in virtual space. The Intuitive Movement Sensing method combines a pressure sensitive floor system, a real time 3D graphics engine and special effects devices within a teamwork application. With this method it is possible to test human-machine and human-human interaction in a group by concentrating on movement detection.
