    Abstract

"Increasing material efficiency by understanding and tailoring material performance in severe wear environments" was the topic of the presentation. Functional wear testing and multiscale material modeling are methods to understand the material behaviour and increase the efficiency by life-time optimazaion. The novel methodology of the material development was presented.

OtherCOST and Delft University of Technology organised a three-day conference looking at solutions to the growing consumption of raw materials at a global scale: sustainable mining, recycling and substitution of critical materials, material life-time extension and product design. Participants also analysed ways forward in terms of research, policy and practice.
