Abstract
This paper presents results of indirectly coating cast-iron and steel castings by arc spray coating a sand core with wear-resistant chromium carbide material. Compared to normal spraying, the process leads to improved structure and bonding of the coating. Depending on the process parameters, different types of coated casting surfaces are formed. The abrasive wear tests show substantially improved wear resistance of the coated castings compared to the base casting alloys.
