    Abstract

Modern information services offer new business opportunities, but the value of information must be assessed properly. The objective of this study was to create an intelligible framework of attributes that contribute to information value and introduce applicable methods to valuate information. The empirical focus is on traffic and traveller information services, from which all the examples are drawn. On the basis of the existing literature the authors identified and listed information value attributes and created a framework to obtain a comprehensive view of these. Valuation approaches and techniques were also identified and were linked with each value attribute to assist in the actual valuation process. The outcomes of the review and analysis facilitate the value engineering of new and existing information services.
