Injection Overmolded Flexible Perovskite Solar Modules

Abstract

Integration methods for perovskite solar cells (PSC) are being developed with the evolving printed electronics pilot line infrastructures enabling material processing to create tailored electronic components, hybrid systems, and further integration in structural electronics (i.e. in-mold electronics). The processing can be done by sheet based or roll-to-roll pilot lines to upscale the production. In this work, flexible roll-to-roll processed PSC modules were integrated via the plastic injection overmolding process. The PSC must be tolerant to the overmolding process conditions which proved feasible in this study leading to improved performance. Evaluation of the overmolded PSC was performed through characterization under 1 sun illumination and stability measurements. For a fully integrated energy module approach to the PSC fabrication, a double sided hybrid electronics solution was fabricated.
