Abstract

The potential for data sharing to create value and foster innovation is widely recognized, yet practical implementation remains challenging due to the diverse needs and motivations of stakeholders. This paper presents a new methodology for use case development in the context of data sharing, designed to examine the alignment of data-driven and business opportunities among various stakeholders. By structurally analysing both the business and data-related dimensions of collaboration, the methodology serves as a bridge between data and business. This can be seen as relevant in the evolving European regulatory environment, where companies have a growing interest to innovate through data sharing. The paper will present an analysis of the development and application of the methodology in the context of methane detection and illustrate its usefulness in innovating through identifying different data sharing needs and interests.
