Abstract
This presentation proposes science-fiction prototyping as
an extension to the design methodologies that have
future-oriented attitude and an aim to construct
reflecting outcomes of research (Kymäläinen, 2015). The
contribution focuses on considering how the method may be
used explicitly as research-oriented design approach -
with an objective to deliver science fiction stories that
are based on extensive amount of research. The
particularities of the demonstrated science fiction
prototypes relate to the manner by how they engage user
research findings of the emerging technology research
profoundly to the prototyping processes, and how they
underline the impact of the under-construction
technologies in new, fictional experience environments.
