Abstract

The invention relates to optical waveguide components, such as Faraday rotators and their manufacture. Faraday rotators based on silicon waveguides (40) are provided, where the waveguide (40) has folded or wound sections (41 a) that are parallel to an externally applied magnetic field (Bbias).
