Abstract

Electrostatic waves like lower hybrid waves can interact with fast minority ions produced by ion cyclotron heating in tokamak plasmas through stochastic Landau damping. By two-dimensional Fokker-Planck calculations it is shown that power deposition and fast ion confinement are significantly influenced by the wave-induced radial ion drift.
