Abstract
IoT technology is increasingly gaining traction across various domains, including transportation, Industry 4.0, and Construction 4.0, supporting advancements in smart manufacturing, intelligent building systems, and smart cities. This work describes certain IoT use cases and technologies applicable for the wood value chain, with a particular focus on the sustainable construction sector. The specific topics include IoT-supported logistics and warehousing, monitoring of moisture sensitive wood-based materials and timber constructions, predictive maintenance of woodworking machinery, and human safety. The work presents specific outcomes of Horizon Europe’s 5G-TIMBER innovation project.
