Abstract
The safety reports of 14 Finnish establishments (of a
total of about 60) prepared according to EU's directive
96/82/EEC were studied in order to find out, whether the
safety management system now required has influenced the
way risk assessment methods are applied. The results show
no major progress, as the companies assessed their risk
assessment procedures already being adequate. Although
the documentation has improved, comprehensive management
of change and risk assessment procedures still seem to be
scarce in the Finnish process industry.
