    Abstract

This paper deals with issues of reliability of the mobile work machines. The study is based on the inquiry for which 11 Finnish companies have corresponded. The results show the reliability bottlenecks during and after the warranty period in the mobile work machines. The management of the reliability issues of the work machines is difficult due to the special characteristics of their use which are varying loads, demanding operating conditions and small manufactured series. Causes of the failures are divided in categories like using against instructions, difficult operating conditions and poor manufacturing or design quality.
