Abstract

From the general three‐wave coupling formalism in magnetized nonrelativistic Vlasov plasma, an expression is derived that gives the differential cross section for the scattering of incident radiation off of thermal fluctuations induced by ions in a hot magnetized plasma. The model is valid to any order in thermal parameters, and can thus generalize the previous theory models to regimes where either the electron Larmor radius or the electron cyclotron resonance are significant for the scattered wave.
