Abstract

Private 5G networks are trending with their capability to customize bandwidth, latency, and quality of service according to the owner's needs. Private 5G networks have the potential to provide higher security, privacy, and operational standards than public networks, thanks to tailored encryption, authentication, and access control that meet specific requirements, reducing exposure to external threats. Smart hospitals can largely benefit from these private networks with their wide range of applications. Quality of service (QoS) is critical in hospital private 5 G networks to ensure patient safety, operational efficiency, and emergency care management. To ensure sufficient QoS for critical hospital applications and procedures, there is a need to specify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), specifically for hospital private networks. This work aims to highlight comprehensive hospital private network KPIs. Further, it analyzes KPIs for private 5G networks as a case study using an OAI-based network setup. Moreover, system feasibility is tested for AR/VR traffic measuring aspects of speed, bandwidth, and security.
