Abstract

A laser radar is capable of creating a range image of a scene by scanning the measurement directions. Significant in the designing of laser devices for various 3D-measurement applications is the choice of parameters such as pulse power, pulse repetition frequency, responsiveness of the receiver, and the number of single shots in a mean value. Differences in these parameters result in significant deviations in range, speed and precision. Other important parameters include the shape and reflectivity of the object, software limitations and calibration methods.
