LCA-assessment of environmental impacts of OXIPRO applications: Deliverable 6.1

This deliverable summarises the actions in Task 6.1 ‘Environmental sustainability including Carbon footprint and Carbon handprint’ of the OXIPRO project. The aim of the work is to ensure the environmental sustainability of the OXIPRO products and processes by providing environmental metrics and feedback for the technical partners about the key factors and environmental hotspots in the product value chains so that they can potentially develop and improve the environmental performance of the products further. The report describes the environmental sustainability assessment of the four innovation cases in the OXIPRO project, namely detergent, cosmetics (sunscreen), textile biobleaching and nutraceuticals.

The environmental assessment has been conducted as four Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) on each innovation case. The LCAs were based on discussions and interviews with the four innovation case leaders and involved case beneficiaries. It included data collection from the project partners with an excel template, which is presented in this report. This primary data collection was supported and integrated with academic literature, i.e. secondary data.
