    Abstract

This study aims to identify and explore multi-stakeholder value at network level for sustainable business model innovation through a network example of the Finnish furniture industry. For this purpose, the study uses a value mapping tool to create a deeper understanding of multiple value across the network to deliver sustainability. The research question the paper addresses is 'how can multi-stakeholder value across the value network be identified and explored for sustainable business model innovation?' The case data was collected from multiple sources: a survey for end users, thematic discussions, and workshops with network representatives and other stakeholders. Our study contributes to the empirical work on sustainable business models by introducing practical case example of mapping multiple forms of value across the network, building on the value mapping tool. The value mapping tool used at the three workshops supported the sense-making between the multiple values and concretization of business opportunities. The results of the study highlight the need for collateral, horizontal relationships and a joint-development process among stakeholders. Exploring the challenges and opportunities from shared value creation between multiple stakeholders is important for driving business model innovation beyond the boundaries of the individual firm perspective and towards a network perspective.
