Abstract
This paper deals with the research project “A Mathematical modelling of moisture behaviour and mould growth in building envelopes”. Earlier a mathematical model of mould growth on wooden material has been created in the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) by Ph.D. Hannu Viitanen. Objectives of this new project are to improve accuracy and application area of this model, especially in transient temperature and relative humidity conditions, add new material data to the model and evaluate suitability of model for estimating service life of structures and products. Usage of the model will be tested by doing experiments for exterior wall structures and materials in laboratory and in field conditions. This paper concentrates on the calculation properties and defects of recent model and introduction of laboratory and field experiments of new project.
