Abstract
The rheological properties of Newtonian, pseudoplastic and thixotropic liquids were measured with two commercial viscometers, Haake RV3 and Bohlin VOR. Good agreement was achieved for Newtonian liquids which means that the instruments were correctly calibrated. For pseudoplastic model liquids the differences in the values of K and n varied from 4 to 13% and 1·6 to 4·6%, respectively. For rheologically more complicated materials the design of instruments and computer programs influences the measurement of low shear rate viscosity.
