    Abstract

We made creep and tensile stiffness measurements at different moisture contents with a new device. The geometry of the device is such that stable conditions after a moisture change are achieved reasonably fast. Tensile stiffness decays exponentially as the moisture content of paper is increased. The decay is faster in cross machine than in machine direction. We analyzed creep at varied moisture content using master curves. Also the creep rate depends exponentially on the moisture content. But this dependence is qualitatively different from that seen in tensile stiffness.
