Abstract
This publication documents the papers to be presented at
the seminar 'Mechanics for Electronics' that will be held
on 4 December 2002 in Otaniemi, Espoo. The seminar
presents the m ain results of a research programme
(2000-2002) organised and almost wholly funded by the
Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT).
The aim of the research programme was to develop at VTT
new research capabilities related to mechanics for
electronics and so to strengthen the possibility for VTT
to serve its customers in the field addressed by the
programme. The programme included five projects and a
number of technology reviews.
The projects included in the programme were 'Assembly of
mechanics for electronics', 'Thermal management materials
in electronics', 'Laser applications in the electronics
industry', 'Tailoring of mechanical tests and NDT' and
'Micromachining'.
