Abstract

Claimed is a process to clean an recondition a dewatering web (10) employed in a papermaking process in which the web passes around a rotating drum (121) mantle (129) where it is exposed to water jets and/or steam and a suction zone (25). An inlet gap (128) is located on or in close proximity to the drum, through which washing water impinges on the web at high pressure. The inlet gap is located between the web and a roller (121). The web is washed both sides before entering the gap. Further claimed is a commensurate washing and reconditioning assembly.
