Abstract

An overview of the recent advances in the Aurora Propulsion Technologies micro resistojet system development is presented. A resistojet is a method of spacecraft propulsion where thrust is generated by vaporising a fluid with a resistor and the expanded gas is expelled through a nozzle. Aurora Propulsion Technologies has developed a highly miniaturized version of this well-established space propulsion technology. The Aurora Resistojet One (ARO) is to our knowledge the world's smallest fully integrated propulsion system. Here we describe the detailed planning of the systems, the manufacturing, postproduction analysis and the vacuum test results.
