Abstract
The drying and the pyrolysis section of an updraft biomass gasifier is considered by using a numerical model. The drying and the pyrolysis usually occur simultaneously inside wood particles, since the particle size used in gasifiers is quite large. The effect of different parameters such as wood moisture content, particle size, gas flow velocity and gas and wood mass flow rates on the dimensions of the drying and pyrolysis section and on the gas outlet temperature is examined by model calculations.
