Abstract

The proceedings of the third Finnish-Soviet seminar on "Monitoring and control of plant raw material bioconversion" are presented as fourteen papers. These papers concern microbiological, economical, technological and biochemical aspects of the bioconversion of lignocellulosic materials. Methods of pretreatment, fermentation techniques, fermenter design and the properties of the microbes and enzymes involved are described and economical aspects are discussed.
