Abstract
Wind conditions along Finland's coast and in the fell areas of Lapland are very favourable for wind power generation. Nearly 10.000 MW of offshore wind power potential has been identified. There is still a long way to go in tapping this resource. 30 MW of capacity was added in 2004, raising the installed base from 52 MW to 82 MW. This includes a 3 MW pilot plant designed by the Finnish wind turbine supplier, Winwind.
