Abstract
Multidirectional vector edge enhancers based on nonlinear operation for color image processing are proposed. In the filters, a few subfilters are used in conjunction with the vector median and decision operations, each subfilter performing noise attenuation. The root signal and edge enhancing properties of the multidirectional vector enhancers are discussed. Experimental examples indicate that the vector edge enhancers can preserve certain details while enhancing blurred edges of color images.
