Abstract
This paper describes the multilingual cataloguing tool developed for the Mkbeem eCommerce mediation system. The very central point in the cataloguing tool is the integrated use of ontological product models and language engineering to support a set of basic cataloguing activities. The starting point for cataloguing a new product is its textual description article. After language checking of the textual description, the properties of the product are extracted from it, categories in selection are proposed for the product, and the description is translated into all supported target languages in one go. We describe the user experiences from the field trials of the cataloguing tool and discuss its possible future development.
