    Abstract

In this paper, a new framework for technical evaluation of preventive safety functions is proposed. The framework is developed within PREVAL, a sub-project of PReVENT, in which the safety potential of the preventive safety functions developed in PReVENT is assessed. PREVAL adapts CONVERGE in the V-shaped design cycle, well known in the automotive industry, and gathers as well the experience in evaluation gained from PReVENT, in order to build a suitable evaluation plan for PReVENT type functions. A detailed description of each evaluation step is given in this paper.
